While Liberty provided exceptional Practicum and Supervision courses at the Masters level, I grew to appreciate the additional layer of support on my Doctoral journey. There was a full circle moment that I had to process during my Counseling Internship. I realized that I was ending both my Masters and now my Doctoral classes with support and consultation of my professor, and my cohorts, who would one day be my colleagues in the field. This competency was the moment that I realized my growth as a Therapist, and all I had truly learned over the past four years.

Supervision was an amazing opportunity to pour into Masters level Counselors-in-Training. This competency challenged me to establish the Supervision model that would best suit my Supervision approach, which was Bernard's Discrimination Model of Supervision. Incorporating Teaching, Counseling, and Consulting with my supervisees ensured I was able to show up and provide for them all they needed during our Supervision Sessions.

The Teaching competency was one that created the most concern. I felt the weight of this course due to the impact it had on a new influx of Counselors that would be joining the profession. I wanted to ensure I was fully prepared for each class. I soon learned that the lessons were not simply found in the course material, but in the shared experiences of my students.

Research and Scholarship were competencies that I discovered that I truly thrived in. I thoroughly enjoyed doing research that would one day contribute to the enhancement of the literature used within the profession. Furthermore, being able to participate in various national and international conferences and sharing knowledge with fellow Counselors and Counselor Educators was both an honor and a privilege.

I learned that Leadership and Advocacy does not only take place within the walls of a University. One of the most rewarding advocacy opportunities did not take place in school, but in a Corporate setting. I learned that being an advocate for my fellow cohorts, students, and colleagues was extremely rewarding. Being able to leave a legacy of Mental Health awareness and Psychological safety for the men and women of a billion dollar corporation made me fully aware of what it means to be a Champion for Christ, and for our profession.
